Green on being green • Identifying just what sustainability in agriculture is, has garnered much speculation and discussion in recent years, but John Deere knows what it means for the company and has set a course that will take it into the future.

PotatoEurope 2022: • In contrast to PotatoEurope 2021 which took place in the Netherlands, the public were once welcome at this year’s field working event. This year it moved to a site close to Hannover in Germany, with plenty of new kit for the 8,000-odd visitors to see. Steven Vale provides the highlights.

Portable blowing power • Designed to blow autumn leaves from lawns and gardens, the humble leaf blower has long been pressed into service for a range of other jobs to include helping remove debris built up on various bits of farm kit and buildings. Here we look at mains, petrol and battery powered models. Were we blown away with what we found?

Automatic berry harvesting • In heavy crops, the Harvy500, an electrically-powered autonomous blueberry harvester, can pick upwards of 1,000kg of blueberries an hour. We’ve been to see one of the first machines.

Increasingly popular, there are now a good number of 8000 series models available on the used market but you need to work hard to secure the right model to suit your specific needs.
