Harold Hall (1933-2024) • Harold Hall was the second editor of Model Engineers’ Workshop magazine, from issue 7 (October 1991) to issue 28 (April 1995). He also contributed many articles up to issue 178 (July 2011), and still contributed occasional articles for several years. Harold, passed away on the 22nd of December at the age of 91.

BROKEN DRILLS and TAPS • These articles by Geometer (Ian Bradley) were written about half a century ago. While they contain much good advice, they also contain references to things that may be out of date or describe practices or materials that we would not use today either because much better ways are available of for safety reasons. These articles are offered for their historic interest and because they may inspire more modern approaches as well as reminding us how our hobby was practised in the past.
